About Practice Owner Laura Reagan, MSW, LCSW-C (She/Her)

I started BA Healing back in 2013 as a solo practitioner. I had a vision to help my community heal from the impacts of historical and intergenerational trauma that were contributing to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, poor self worth, suicidal thoughts, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain issues and relationship problems. At the time there weren’t any psychotherapists that I knew of in our area who were focused on trauma.

In 2015 I launched Therapy Chat, a podcast to help therapists learn about ways to help clients with trauma and attachment wounds using alternative methods to the typical talk therapy based on the medical model that are so prevalent in our area. It has grown to be heard in over 160 countries over the past 8 years. It’s been downloaded nearly 8 million times as of September 2023, and aside from running my group practice, this is where much of my time is focused.

In 2021 I created Trauma Therapist Network, a website to teach people about trauma and how it shows up in our lives. Earlier that summer I created Trauma Chat, a podcast focused on teaching people that trauma is real, healing is possible, and help is available, if you know where to look. In addition to blog articles about trauma, Trauma Therapist Network holds all episodes of Therapy Chat and Trauma Chat, as well as a searchable directory to find a trauma therapist. It has evolved into a membership community supporting trauma therapists to do our best work while being held in community, to overcome the isolation and burnout which are so prevalent in our field, especially after the pandemic turned our worlds upside down in 2020.

I’m trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy through level 2; Brainspotting (levels 1 & 2, intensive and ongoing additional trainings); Mindful Self Compassion: LifeForce Yoga Therapy; IFS (IFS & LifeForce Yoga weekend; IFS & Complex Trauma 5 Day Intensive; IFS Inner Circle); and I hold an Advanced Level II Certificate in Trauma Therapy from the Ferentz Institute. Although I have let go of the certification as of 2022, I completed training in Brené Brown’s The Daring Way™ method in 2014. I’ve been training in anti-racism work and reflecting on the intentions of decolonizing myself and my practice since 2020 through Decolonizing Therapy for Black Folks (Shawna Murray-Browne) and other liberatory-focused anti-carceral methods. I’m also a huge believer in the benefits of investing in therapy, coaching, bodywork and other supports to help us thrive.

I also have lived experience with Complex PTSD and I’ve specialized in working with sexual trauma since 2002. I love teaching and training therapists in using integrative approaches to healing trauma and attachment. I’ve been a Maryland Board-Approved & Registered Supervisor since 2014 and I offer Clinical Supervision and Consultation. I’m a Field Instructor for the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Laura earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from University of Maryland School of Social Work. She has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient community mental health clinics, hospitals, the military, and private practice.

Laura is currently accepting a limited number of new adult clients for virtual and in person therapy and coaching sessions.
